MONTREAL, May 1, 2009 – Itergy today announced that it has completed the acquisition and merger of DSF Concept, a Microsoft partner in Quebec City, expanding Itergy’s ability to service small and midsize businesses across the province of Quebec. DSF Concept, founded in 1997 by Denis Beauchemin and Sophie Pouliot, has a well-rounded portfolio of IT services for the SMB market: consulting, integration, implementation, development and managed services.
Together the two companies will meet a wider set of customer needs and have a significantly greater opportunity to grow into new markets, particularly in the small and midsize business market. While DSF Concept currently serves the Quebec City and Chaudière-Appalaches regions, areas where Itergy did not yet have a local presence, the DSF Concept business model is one that can be readily replicated in other regions of Eastern Canada.
“The small and midsize business market is very fragmented and, in general, not very well-served from an IT perspective,” said Ralph Loewen, president of Itergy. “We have been looking for a partner that would have a strong Microsoft orientation but would also have a complete service offering for the SMB marketplace. DSF Concept brings us both the business and service models to be able to better service these customers.”
In the combined company, Denis Beauchemin will join Itergy as director of services for the SMB market. “I am very excited by the potential of this merger for DSF Concept and its employees,” said Denis Beauchemin of DSF Concept. “While we have just had five years of steady growth, we realized we had reached the zenith of our potential without a change of direction. We received many impressive offers and chose to merge with Itergy because of its vision for growth and its focus on excellence in its services.”
“We had been developing a service model for the SMB marketplace,” according to Donald Bauer, co-founder and vice-president of sales and marketing at Itergy. “DSF Concept is bringing us a mature business model, a portfolio of clients and a set of partnerships that would have taken a significant investment to develop. Together we will be able to offer better services to both DSF Concept and Itergy clients. We will start marketing our new service offering immediately in the Greater Montreal region and have plans to expand it to the Toronto and Ottawa regions thereafter.”
The two companies have an integration plan to build a common culture and to use the best business and product development practices from each company. Cost savings has not been the objective, although there will be efficiency gains. “The primary motivation for both companies is to continue to expand and grow our business into new markets,” said Loewen.
